Hi Rich,

Just read your blog, A very informative one at that. You really do know your stuff and can be a great help to those who need it. I like the fact you are so positive it definitely makes a difference to RA. I do hope you start to feel better in yourself soon and can apply to jobs of your choice. Good Luck Lorna ThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

Thanks for all your comments :)

Just found out today ..by email .. the closing date for the application was midday today and i only posted the form on Saturday !!! ..but i have an interview ..with the Disability Alliance on Friday :) wooohooo. It's a perfect job and even though i'm just beginning treatment ..i'd be a fool not to try !
The job is advising people who are on benefits on what they should be able to claim on return to work , and also writing fact sheets etc :) Ypu might even see my name on The Disability Rights handbook (I can but dream !)
Watch this space ..but i'd better do some revision between now and Friday :O as its a 45 minute test then a 45 minute interview:O

Im off to celebrate with some Milk as i've just started (10 days) on Leflunomide :O

Yay - well done on the interview date Rich. It sounds exactly what you are good at, so fingers crossed (in a crooked sort of RA-way!) Comiserations on the celebratory glass of milk, from a fellow Leflunomide-taker! XX Ailsa

Well Thank you all :)
Had the interview yesterday ,eeek , first interview in over two years ,interview went ok , i think , but i know i didn't do well on the 45minute benefits test which annoyed me hugely, as i can normally do them at the drop of a hat :( oh well will find out by the middle of next week .
I originally wasn't too bothered if i got the job , but now if i don't ..i will be gutted :(

Oh well we will see :)
Looks like London has given me a throat infection too :(

Hi Rich,

Well done for getting the interview. I am sure it all went well. I hope they let you know soon

Would be interested to know if you disclose your RA? either on application or during interview and how did you find that? Is it full time? I have been applying for jobs too (part-time) - nothing yet which is downheartening filling in the application forms are hearing absolutely nothing. RollEyes

Sorry to hear this Rich, but think of it as Interview Practise, and hold on to the Good Feedback.

Still working towards that goal .. and as it's a drastic change from being a copier engineer, i have done very well so far :)
Thanks for the empathy :)

Hi Rich

Thanks for the post, you did really well to get to interview stage I would think in the current climate ! Pretty tough at there.

Hope your hands feeling little better, I love to soak mine and arms too in lots of really warm water when they are hurting - really seems to work for me.

Take care, Julia

Thanks everyone ..means a lot :)
It's only me i have to look after(and the mice under the floorboards) so no real problem. Always had the work ethic and it's difficult to let it go... and I'm a stubborn one ;)

Well here is round two .. saw the Disability alliance job that i went for a while ago (on this thread) advertised again , so i emailed them , and i got an answer back that they do not need to interview me but i just have to do a similar benefits calculation test as i did last time (and i knew i had mucked that up last time)
Still not well enough for full time but with the Equality act they have to make reasonable adjustments :) (eg (working from home etc)
So now i am doing calculation after calculation of all the benefits :)
January 13th is the date :) so plenty of time :)
Nice to know they are still interested in me :)
Not sure what i will do if i don't succeed this time and also not sure what to do if i get offered the job :O
Got to try though :)

Oh Rich, i wish you the very best of luck,
I know what you are saying about full time, i went part time 3 yrs ago, it made my life a lot easier, but there are times when i try and keep up with full timers, i think other put the pressure on, i then have to reign myself in, as i know i will go down fast as the stress becomes to much.

I hope this job is all you are after, Just remember, you cant do a full time job on part time hrs. This is what i tell myself often. lol lol

Happy new year to you!
